Sacred Hoop School (Chief Big Foot's Dream)

Sacred Hoop School (Chief Big Foot's Dream)

In 1882, Chief Big Foot traveled to Washington, DC and asked the US government to build a school to preserve the Lakota language and culture. Sadly, that never happened, and in fact, he and his family, and band of followers were massacred on the banks of the Wounded Knee Creek.
Leonard Little Finger, the great, great grandson of Chief Big Foot has fulfilled his dream, and the result is the Sacred Hoop School in Oglala, SD on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
